Stand Up-Date 31 @ Raffertys

Sometimes life just gets in the way of some of my fun folks, what can I say?  But in these circumstances I choose which areas of my time to hack away from and standing up is higher then writing on the pit ;(…  I’m sorry, really I am, yeah, ok, but just rest assured I am still making my rounds trying to get better doing this thing we all love!

The tragic part of this added bullshit in my routine is the mush my mind feels like every night after work! I’ve not been writing much in the notebook either!  This is unacceptable! But I feel but there ain’t much I can do if it just ain’t coming, ya know?  Sux to be honest.

I typically write 4-5 pages of notebook shit a day but this last 10 days its dropped down to almost nothing for some days.  I’ve actually been considering what could be causal to this besides the schedule.  I’ve even considered it could be because I’ve not been listening to music as much.  I’ve been trying to squeeze extra thought into comedy by listening to various podcasts to and from work which is almost 2 hrs a day.  A good 1.5 anyways depending on traffic.  I dunno, I’m not willing to submit to this train of thought just yet, though, as I enjoy the podcasts.  I’d like to thank @kyleploof for being a lazy bitch and not releasing his podcast on the regular, though.  I could be even more flooded by the media my life has taken to consuming. BOOM!  Haha, thats a hint buddy, I love yo shit man, be nice if I could listen more often!

Anyways back to my open mics!

YEAH!

31! Rafferty’s! Its been good folks, its been good!  I’ve worked another set up which is in my opinion, ok.  If i had to rate it on a scale of the funniest shit I ever heard, well its probably ’bout a 3 outta a hundred.  LOL I’m just thankful I got the Tommy Sunshine to fall back on ;) .  Nah, but really!  Let me talk a little bit because I’ve heard some cool bits this week besides my own and I’d like to say a lil sumpin so we can all remember them by!

At Raffertys on 9/29 I wrote down the following comedian’s names who were hosted by the beautiful, funny, caring host Chrissy Kelleher

Chris and Kelly showed up together and were from the Worcester scene.  Chris was obviously an exceptional comedian.  He made some hilarious jokes about being a single dad of a teenage daughter which really struck home.  He basically gave a workshop on how to walk in and own a mic.  Amazing comic this dude is.  If you get a chance, don’t miss him.  Its fun comedy.  Dude is a buff ass mofo too.  Damn guy has got some guns… Not that I was noticing or anything…

It was great seeing Dotty and Alynn again.  Its been forever since I’ve seen Dotty and she really laid down some great laughs!  She was smooth, got into her groove and really looked comfortable up there.  Good job lady!  Alynn you too girl, but you knew that.

Rich Gustus busted out an amazing set.  I don’t wanna go all out butt sucking here but it was such an entertaining time watching Rich tonight.  I really loved his MS stuff.  My wife is living with MS as well and its so good to see someone who can find the humor while coping with what can be a terrifying circumstance.  Maybe next month I can scrounge up the cash to sit in on his stand up class on November 16th :) .

As for me?  Well, I actually did ok.  I got bumped, bumped, bumped, but I don’t care, I just like being around comics and getting the chance to hop up and do my thing.  I think I did all right, though.  I was able to hit my eyes and I changed from the creepy schtick to some more generically fun stuff.  I made it under 5 by a hair and got some laughs and some claps.  Can’t ask for more after 3 and a half months I don’t think.

One last thing, if you’ve been thinking about making the drive out to Marshfield and hitting Raffertys on their Thursday open mic, you need to just get your ass out there and do it!   Its run by such a classy lady who has some amazing supporters.  Its a supportive group of comics and you won’t wind up walking away wishing you didn’t come.

Tommy Sunshine works full time making about $420.00 annually changing oil and filters and doing some crygenic magic for the man who tries to keep him down. He trys to be a comic, but he's very new and he sucks, really bad. Oh, and he hates marriage, he doesn't care if its gay marriage or straight marriage, its fucking stupid. I would love to get a comment!
